Çitdibi to Geyikbayırı over Trebenna: the classic eastern finish

Updated: 2026-09-07

For most of the last decade this was the end. The path climbs from Çitdibi to a pass where the town of Trebenna sits in ruins with its basilica and tombs, then descends to Geyikbayırı, a valley of limestone crags that has become the sport-climbing capital of the country. Measured at 15.1 km and eight hours.

The climbers’ camps at the bottom are the friendliest accommodation on the eastern trail, with showers, food, and a dolmuş into Antalya in the morning.

Ghost cities on this stage

  • Trebenna (Typalia) — a Roman and Byzantine town on the pass with a basilica, walls and tombs, unfenced and rarely visited.

Highlights

  • Trebenna on its saddle
  • The limestone crags of Geyikbayırı, Türkiye’s main sport-climbing area
  • Climbers’ camps with hot showers and other people at last

Finishing at Geyikbayırı

Walkers arriving here have earned the beer. If you are ending your trail, the dolmuş to Antalya runs from the village and the airport is on the far side of the city. If you are going on, the 2022 extension continues to the outskirts of Antalya, and a connector waymarked in 2022 links Geyikbayırı to the St Paul Trail for anyone who has not had enough.
