Alınca to Bel via Sidyma: the inland day among the tombs

Updated: 2026-09-07

After two days of cliff, the trail turns inland. From Alınca it drops and rises through pine to Dodurga, where the Lycian city of Sidyma is not beside the village but underneath it: tombs in the gardens, wall blocks in the barns, the mosque on the agora. Then a further hour and a half brings you to Bel, a farming village on the plateau that has quietly hosted walkers for twenty years.

Measured as two legs: Alınca to Dodurga 10.7 km, Dodurga to Bel 5.3 km. The coastal variant by the Yediburunlar lighthouse is 7.7 km plus 5.8 km and gives you the Seven Capes instead of the ruins.

Ghost cities on this stage

  • Sidyma — a Lycian and Roman city with its tombs and walls scattered through the modern village of Dodurga. Houses are built into the ruins; the mosque stands on the old agora.

Highlights

  • Sidyma’s temple tombs among the village houses
  • The Seven Capes from above on the coastal variant
  • Bel, a quiet plateau village that still takes walkers in

Which variant, Sidyma or the lighthouse?

Take 5A through Sidyma if ruins are why you came; it is the first real Lycian city on the trail and one of the least visited. Take 5B if the coast is why you came and you want a night at the lighthouse, which is one of the more unusual beds on the whole route. Both end at Bel and neither has running water in between except the mosques.
