# What the Lycian Way costs: pensions, food, transport, guides and packages, honestly

Costs on the Lycian Way run from almost nothing, if you carry a tent and eat bread and cheese, to several thousand euros for a fully guided fortnight with a foreign operator. Both are real. What follows is what things cost in the middle, where most walkers are, with the caveat that Turkish prices move fast and we give ranges and dates rather than numbers we cannot stand behind.

## Beds and food

Village pensions on the trail typically include breakfast and often dinner, and sit well below town hotel prices; the village pension is the walker’s deal on this trail. Kaş, Kalkan and Fethiye are town prices, higher in July and August and lowest from November to March; our <a href="/guides/where-to-stay-in-kas/">Kaş accommodation guide</a> has the current picture. Wild camping is free where it is tolerated and pension camping spots charge a small fee. Village food is cheap and good: a walker’s lunch of bread, cheese, olives and fruit from a shop costs very little, and a cooked dinner at a pension is a few times that. ## Transport and entry fees

Dolmuş and coast buses between stage ends are the cheapest thing on the trail. Taxis to villages without a bus, Gökçeören, Çukurbağ, Boğazcık, are the expensive exception and worth splitting. Boats: Limanağzı water taxi in season, Aperlai or Kaleköy to Üçağız by arrangement. Site entry for foreign visitors on the 2026 published lists: Xanthos and Letoon about €3 each, Simena castle and Andriake about €4, Olympos and Phaselis about €10, Myra about €13, Patara about €15, the Church of St Nicholas about €17. They change every March. The unfenced sites, Aperlai, Apollonia, Phellos, Sidyma, Pydnai, are free.

## Luggage transfer and guides

Transfer companies on the trail quote per bag per leg; one 2026 source gives an indicative US$20–40 per bag for legs of 10 to 50 km, unverified by us. Around Kaş the boat legs to Aperlai and Kaleköy are arranged with pension owners and priced separately. A licensed professional guide is a day rate that depends on group size and season, and is the biggest single line in any guided package; it is also the line that makes the ruins mean something.

## Packages, for comparison

Self-guided eight-day packages elsewhere on the trail are advertised from roughly €580 to €620 per person by Turkish operators, and foreign operators list guided eight-day trips from around US$1,000 upward, with UK walking companies higher again. Turkish agencies advertise four-day guided Kaş to Kekova trips at 19,900 to 31,500 TL per person in 2026, transport and meals included. These are advertised prices, not our quotes, and they show the range: the same four days can cost a third or three times as much depending on group size, guide days and what is included.

## How our Kaş to Demre price is built

We do not publish a price because there is no standard version. The agency quote is built from: pension nights with half board, transfers to and from stage ends by car, boat legs to Aperlai and Kaleköy, bag transfers if wanted, guide days if wanted, and the agency’s margin. Two people in November with a guide for one day is a different sum from six people in April carrying their own bags.
