The first four stages of the Lycian Way are the ones the guidebook opens with and the ones most people have seen photographs of: the path above Ölüdeniz, Butterfly Valley from the cliff, the beach at Kabak, the mountain village of Alınca and the empty coast of the Seven Capes. This trek walks them west to east with a licensed guide, ends on the hardest day with the descent to Karadere, and finishes among the tombs of Xanthos before the airport.

It is greener and busier than the Kaş section, with more pensions and more people on the path. If it is your first long-distance trail, start here.

## Day by day

- Day 1: Ovacık to Faralya via Kozağaç and Kirme — 12 km, +490 m, moderate. Night: Hotel, Faralya. Meet at Dalaman or Fethiye, transfer to Ovacık, walk the cliff path above Ölüdeniz. Stage pages: [Ovacık → Faralya](https://ghostofkas.com/lycian-way/ovacik-to-faralya/)
- Day 2: Faralya to Alınca via Kabak — 13 km, +550 m, moderate. Night: Eco-bungalow. Butterfly Valley from above, Kabak beach and waterfall, then the long climb to Alınca. Stage pages: [Faralya → Kabak](https://ghostofkas.com/lycian-way/faralya-to-kabak/), [Kabak → Alınca](https://ghostofkas.com/lycian-way/kabak-to-alinca/)
- Day 3: Alınca to Gey over the Seven Capes — 14 km, +320 m, moderate. Night: Eco-bungalow, Gey. The Yediburunlar coast: no villages, no road, the best sea views of the week. Stage pages: [Alınca → Bel](https://ghostofkas.com/lycian-way/alinca-to-bel/)
- Day 4: Gey to Karadere by the Gavurağılı descent — 13 km, +620 m, hard. Night: Coastal guesthouse, Karadere. The hardest day: a steep, loose descent to the coast at Karadere. Stage pages: [Bel → Karadere (Özlen)](https://ghostofkas.com/lycian-way/bel-to-karadere/)
- Day 5: Xanthos, then Dalaman — 4 km, easy. The Lycian capital and UNESCO site, then the transfer to the airport. Stage pages: [Karadere → Xanthos (Kınık)](https://ghostofkas.com/lycian-way/karadere-to-xanthos/)

## What the tour page does not tell you

- Day 4 is the hardest and it is the last full walking day; the Gavurağılı descent is loose and steep and there is no shade. Poles are worth carrying for this day alone.
- The eco-bungalows at Gey and Alınca are simple, shared-bathroom places. They are also the reason you get to sleep on that coast at all.
- Xanthos on day 5 is walked from the road, not from Karadere; the Karadere to Xanthos stage itself is a transfer.

Plan this with us: Tell us your dates, how many of you there are and how far you like to walk in a day. We reply within a day with a plan and a price from a licensed local agency — guided or self-guided, luggage moved, beds booked. ## Questions people actually ask

### Does this trek reach Kaş?

No. It ends at Xanthos, about an hour west of Kaş. If you want to continue, the seven-day Fethiye trek covers the same ground; ask us about adding the Patara and Kalkan stages on your own.

### Is Butterfly Valley included?

You see it from the cliff path on day 2, which is the view everyone means. Going down into it is a separate, sketchy descent and not part of the trek.
