Limanağzı to Boğazcık: the empty coast east of Kaş

The coast between Limanağzı and Boğazcık has no road, no village and, most days, no other people. The path works its way over headland after headland with the sea on the right and Meis slowly falling behind, dips to coves that do not appear on any tourist map, and finally climbs inland to Boğazcık, a farming village on the road with a pension, a campsite and the fountain you have been thinking about all afternoon.
GPS-measured at 15 km, 750 m up and 470 m down, a little under six hours. Combined with the Kaş to Limanağzı walk it makes one long day from the harbour, which is how through-walkers usually do it.

Ghost cities on this stage
- Apollonia — a Lycian city on the hill above Kılıçlı, with pillar tombs, a theatre and a cistern that walkers use as a water source; reached by a signed side trail from near Boğazcık, roughly 7 km return, unverified.

Water: the Boğazcık rule
Fill every bottle at Boğazcık. It is the last reliable running water before Üçağız, two stages away across a peninsula whose cisterns are doubtful. Walkers who leave Boğazcık light on water regret it at Aperlai, where the cisterns are marked on the map but not to be trusted. Three litres minimum for the next day, more in warm weather.
Fake waymarks
The Culture Routes Society has warned for years about fake red-and-white stripes between Kaş and Boğazcık, painted to steer walkers towards particular businesses. If a waymark pulls you off the line on your map, follow the map. The official route is maintained on OpenStreetMap and that is what OsmAnd shows.
The side trail to Apollonia
From the Kılıçlı side of Boğazcık a signed path climbs to Apollonia, a Lycian city on a hill with pillar tombs, a small theatre and a cistern that reports describe as the only water on the hill. It is a detour of a few hours and one of the ghost cities this site is named for. We have not yet measured the path ourselves, so treat the distance as approximate. It combines naturally with the walk down to Aperlai the next morning.

Questions people actually ask
Can I walk Kaş to Boğazcık in one day?
Yes. Kaş to Limanağzı plus this stage is about 19 km with around 880 m of ascent, a long but normal day for a fit walker. Start at first light and carry all your water.
Is there a bed at Boğazcık?
A pension and a campsite in the village, and bungalows at Sısla on the coast partway along. Confirm they are open outside April to October.
How do I get back to Kaş from Boğazcık?
Taxi, about half an hour. There is no regular bus. We can arrange a pick-up as part of a plan.
