# Çıralı to Tekirova: the long coastal day, or inland to Beycik

At Çıralı the trail divides for the first time into two genuinely different routes. The coastal line, 23B, follows the forested shore north for 21.8 km of coves and headlands to Tekirova, a long but moderate day. The inland line, 23A, climbs from Çıralı through the trout restaurants of Ulupınar to the mountain village of Beycik, 8.1 km and then 9.3 km, and sets you up for the high crossing under Tahtalı.

The coast is the easier and the more beautiful; the mountain is the more serious and the more remote. Pick by the weather and by how much water you are willing to carry.

- Terrain: Coastal woodland and a string of coves north of Çıralı, with short climbs between them, ending in the resort of Tekirova. The inland 23A alternative climbs to Ulupınar and Beycik for the Tahtalı route.
- Sleep at the end: Tekirova hotels; Beycik guesthouse on the inland alternative
- Water: Carry from Çıralı; streams are seasonal
- Getting there: Dolmuş Tekirova–Kemer; Çıralı dolmuş to the main road
- From Kaş: About 3.5 h by bus

## Which way at Çıralı?

Take the coast if you want Phaselis and the sea, or if it is hot, or if you are not carrying a tent. Take the mountain if you have the fitness and the water capacity for the Tahtalı pass at 1,815 m and want the cedar forest and the Yörük camps, which are unlike anything else on the trail. The Culture Routes Society renewed the waymarks on the coastal section in September 2020; the mountain route is in the 2022 guidebook.
