Kaş has no airport and never will — the mountains that make it beautiful are the reason. Dalaman is the usual arrival point, about 150 kilometres west, and Antalya sits further east at around 200. Whichever you pick, the last leg is the D400: the coast road through Fethiye and Kalkan, past the Kaputaş cliff, which is genuinely one of the best drives in the country and the worst possible road to meet for the first time at midnight with a hire car and a wrong turning.
Public transport works in daylight and only in daylight. You take a bus or shuttle to Fethiye, change for the Kaş service, and the connection dries up in the early evening — which is precisely when cheap flights land. A private transfer is booked against your flight number, waits when you are late, and puts luggage in a boot instead of on your knees for two changes.
It is also the one thing on this site that has nothing to do with the season. Boats stop in November, the road does not.

How long does Dalaman to Kaş take?
Around two and a half to three hours for roughly 150 kilometres. The road is good but it is a coast road — bends, villages, and a lot of reasons to slow down and look.
Can I get to Kaş by bus instead?
Yes, in daytime: airport shuttle or bus to Fethiye, then the Kaş service, with a change and your luggage. Evening arrivals are the problem — the last connections go early and leave you overnighting in Fethiye.
Dalaman or Antalya — which airport?
Both are roughly three to three and a half hours away, Dalaman to the west and Antalya to the east. Pick on flight times and price; neither is meaningfully closer, and the Dalaman road is the prettier of the two.
What about a hire car?
Worth it if you plan to explore Patara, Saklıkent and the quiet coves at your own hours. Not worth it if you are staying in town — Kaş centre is walkable, parking is tight in summer, and the tours pick up from the middle of town anyway.
